The visas are processed via an online system and are approved by the ‘Tourism Council of Bhutan’

Citizens of India, Bangladesh and Maldives can obtain a free entry permit upon arrival once they produce their passports.

BHUTAN CURRENCY
Paying through your cards might not be such a good option in Bhutan. Also, don’t expect any easy access to an ATM. The best way to get around is carrying cash. The local currency of Bhutan is Ngultrum.

You can also use Indian currency except the 500- and 2000-rupee notes as legal tender in Bhutan.

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL TO BHUTAN
The best seasons to travel to Bhutan is somewhere between March-May and between September-November. The onset of spring and autumn brings about a lot of color in the valleys and if you want to see the rhododendron bloom then visiting during March and April would be a good idea. Make your bookings in advance as the tourist count peak during these seasons.

If you want to experience a quieter and isolated version of Bhutan visit sometime during December-February. This season has fewer tourists coming in which means that you will save a decent amount of money. The weather gets a little cold during December and January.

The span between June to August isn’t a good time to travel as the monsoon rains pour in and there are hardly any treks that are conducted during this season. The onset of monsoon also means a lot of leeches and swampy forests, but the only bright side to this is that you can witness exotic flowers blooming at higher altitudes during this phase.
